Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine

Fushimi Inari Taisha is a rather unique shrine complex. Hundreds of red gates take you up a mountain, giving you a great view of Kyoto at the top.

Budget travel tips

  • Make sure you walk up and explore the hundreds of red gates going up the mountain.
  • Take the bus if you have a bus pass, it’s not too difficult to find from the bus stop.

How to get there

From Kyoto station, take the Nara line train to Inari station (140 yen, 5 mins).

From other areas, take the bus to the Inaritaisya-mae bus stop on the southbound No.5 bus.  It’s a short, easy walk from here.
