Showa Memorial Park

showa_main

Showa Memorial Park is a huge ‘park of parks’ not far from Shinjuku.  There are all sorts of things to see and do, such Japanese gardens, attractions for children, cherry blossom areas, lakes and much more.

Budget travel tips

  • The free part may be enough for you. We got our Autumn Colours fix (pics here), and headed off.

  • Best to go during the cherry blossoms or Autumn Colours.

How to get there

From Shinjuku station, take the Chuo line (orange JR line) to Tachikawa station.  It’s a 10 minute, well signposted walk from there.  An easier option is to change to the Ome line (orange JR line) at Tachikawa station and go one stop to Nishi Tachikawa station.  The park entrance is just outside the station exit.
