Cheap theme park in Tokyo – Kasai Rinkai Park

While places such as Tokyo Disney Land and Fuji Q may be more popular amusement parks, Kasai Rinkai Park makes for a great, but inexpensive day out.  The main attraction is the Diamond and Flowers Ferris Wheel, which is the second tallest Ferris wheel in Japan and offers great views of the city on a clear day.  If the weather is really good, you can even see Mount Fuji to the south.

There is also an aquarium (Tokyo Sea Life Park) with sharks, penguin shows and countess other fish.  There are plenty of shows throughout the day and excellent English descriptions for each fish.  At the end you can enjoy touching the stingrays and buy some typically cute animal cuddly bears!

It’s also nice to just walk around the park.  There are many interesting small (and free!) buildings around the park showing off different types of nature and habitats.  There is also a well known bird sanctuary, which covers about a third of the park.  Visitors are free to roam most of the area.  Check out the Sea Bird Center in the center for more information.
