Kasai Rinkai Park is a theme park in Tokyo that is free to enter. It features Japan’s second tallest Ferris wheel, which sometimes offers views of Mount Fuji, an large aquarium and a good collection of free activities and sights. Blog report here.

Top Tips

  • Bring a picnic or bento box and relax on the beach or in the park.  Barbecues also OK.
  • We recommend combining Kasai Rinkai Park with the nearby Odaiba.

Places of interest

Tokyo Sea Life Park

An interesting aquarium with penguins, sharks and so on.  Great for the family. Open: 9:30 to 17:00 (closed on Wednesdays) Price: Adults 700 yen, Children 250 yen

Ferris Wheel

Very tall Ferris wheel with great views of the city and sometimes Mount Fuji Open: 9:30 to 20:00 (21:00 on weekends and holidays) Price: Adults 700 yen

Nature spots (FREE)

Kasai Rinkai Park has a nice collection of free ‘natural habitat areas’ showing different plants and animals. Locations are clearly shown on maps around the park.

Bird Sanctuary  The free bird sanctuary is great if you have an interest in bird watching, or just for a nice walk.

How to get there

From Tokyo station, take the JR Keiyo Line (red JR line) to Kasairinkaikoen station (14 mins, 210 yen).
