Osaka Castle is a recently rebuilt castle in central Osaka. There is a large park surrounding the complex, plus a historical museum. Because of it was built recently, the innards contain features such as elevator access, so it’s not the most stunning castle in Japan, but still worth a visit if you have time.
Budget travel tips
- Matsumoto Castle and Nijo Castle are more authentic castles.

How to get there
From Nanba station (Osaka), take the Sennichimae line (Osaka Subway) to Tanimachi Kyuchome station, then the Tanimachi line (Osaka Subway) to Tanimachi Yonchome station (10 mins, 230 yen).
From Umeda station (Osaka), walk to Higashi-Umeda station, then take the Tanimachi line (Osaka Subway) to Tanimachi Yonchome station (11 mins, 230 yen).
It’s a short walk from the station.
