Dotonbori Street

Dotonbori Street is the place to go for drinks or food in the evening in Osaka.  It’s full of reasonably priced restaurants and bars, and has a lively character that will force you to get out your camera and take a few pics!

Budget travel tips

  • It’s a nice place any time of the day, but gets particularly lively and exciting in the evening.
  • Stay clear of bars that have cover charges.  There are plenty without, and signs outside usually say if there is a cover/table charge. Ask “charji??” to check if you are worried.

How to get there

From Nanba station (Osaka Subway line), take Exit 14 or 15B, then walk north towards the canal for a minute. Dotonbori Street is the wide street on the right, just before the river.

From Umeda station (Osaka), take the Midosuji line (Osaka Subway) to Nanba station and follow the instruction above (7 mins, 230 yen).
