Cheap snowboarding and amazing mountains – Hakuba report

If you want to experience snowboarding or skiing on the cheap in Japan, Hakuba is the best place to go.  We recently went there, and enjoyed not just hitting the slopes but also checking out the town.

Arrived to see this Japanese graveyard totally covered in snow.  Tried to walk through, but it was impossible!

habuba_foot_bath

Hakuba has a few free hot foot baths, like this one in the Tourist Information Center.

This shrine can be found in the center of Habuba.

Hosonosuwa Shrine, also in the center.

hakuba_nagano_long_jump

The Olympic Ski Jump.

hakuba_nagano_long_jump2View from the Olympic Ski Jump.  Highly recommended as the town can be difficult to see from up some ski slopes.

habuta_ski_snowboard1

Hakuba Goryu ski resort on the beginner course – very quiet.

habuta_ski_snowboard2

The intermediate course wasn’t that busy as well.hakuba_town

After all the snowboarding, we took a walk around the town.
