Ueno Park is one of the most popular free places to go for cherry blossom viewing. It gets really, really crowded, but there are so many different types of cherry blossom trees in many different areas, so it’s a must visit if you are in Japan during the cherry blossom season.
There is a nice route around the lake, lined with cherry blossom trees.

The park can look like it’s all blocked up with people, but try to venture in as the cherry blossoms are very much worth the crowds.
The best, and cheapest, way to enjoy cherry blossoms is to get a mat and sit under the trees with friends, drinks and snacks.
Grab a beer and relax under the trees….
