The Japanese cherry blossom season, known as sakura (桜/さくら), is one of the best times to visit Japan. Everyone comes out to enjoy cherry blossom viewing, or hanami in Japanese (花見/はなみ). There are plenty of cheap and free places to see the cherry blossoms, so make sure you are in the right places at the right time!
